The capital "G" is a problem for me. Atheism doesn't spring from "There is a God." Athiesm springs from "There is a God and he wants me to force you/prevent you from doing X."
"X" can be anything from building a restaurant that serves alcohol near a church (I live in the American South) to having a blood transfusion.
The atheist’s skepticism may fairly be called something closer to agnosticism on the question of the existence of "God" but whether or not any god exists only matters in the context of what to do about it.
When faced with people acting on "God's" orders it only makes sense to demand proof that God is there and giving orders.
In the West, this is a conversation that only takes place around the capital G God. Atheism is more an answer to "Because God said so," in that the statement implies that there is a God to say anything.
